The School and Role
An Alternative Provision school based in Christchurch is currently seeking 1-1 Teaching Assistants to start as soon as possible. The school caters for primary and secondary pupils aged 6 - 16 years with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, ASD, and various other needs including trauma, school phobia, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), and Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD). All learners have an Educational, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
The successful Support Assistant will be required to work 1-1 with pupils, assisting them academically as well as overcoming barriers to learning and supporting them emotionally. You will collaborate closely with teachers, special education staff, and parents to implement individualised strategies that promote academic success, social skills development, and emotional well-being.
