SEN Teaching Assistant: Autism Support: Primary SEN Unit in Kennington: ASAP Start


A specialist ASD provision within a primary school in Kennington, near Brixton, is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an SEN Teaching Assistant with a passion for working with children on the Autism spectrum. Psychology graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in SEN are also encouraged.


SEN Teaching Assistant: Role Overview:
  1. Support children with Autism and complex needs in a structured ASD unit.
  2. Work closely with teachers and therapists to implement individual learning plans.
  3. Assist children in developing social, communication, and self-regulation skills.
  4. Provide emotional and behavioral support where needed.
  5. Adapt activities and lessons to meet the needs of each child.

SEN Teaching Assistant: Ideal Candidate:
  1. Experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a care/support role with Autism.
  2. A Psychology Graduate or someone passionate about child development.
  3. Familiarity with sensory-based interventions and visual communication strategies.
  4. A patient and understanding approach with a proactive attitude.
