ABOUT BOSWORTH INDEPENDENT SCHOOL

Bosworth Independent School is a relatively small school of approximately 300 students. OVERVIEW OF THE JOB

As a Teacher of Social Sciences, you will teach students up to A-Level supporting their learning of Psychology and Sociology allowing them to achieve the best possible outcomes. You will develop, deliver and support the school's academic programmes in line with school standards and policies. This role is a full-time position with an immediate or September start available.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB

AS A SUBJECT TEACHER, YOU WILL:

  1. Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge students
  2. Promote good progress and outcomes by students
  3. Demonstrate strong subject and curriculum knowledge
  4. Plan and teach well-structured lessons based on departmental schemes of work
  5. Participate in arrangements for preparing students for external examinations
  6. Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all students
  7. Set and mark homework and class work promptly according to the School's policy
  8. Make accurate and productive use of assessment
  9. Write high quality reports as required by the School's policy on reporting to parents
  10. Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment
  11. Develop and maintain classroom and other learning environments
  12. Ensure that School policies on student attendance are enforced

YOU WILL ALSO:

  1. Act as Personal Tutor to a group of students
  2. Play a role in departmental planning and the development of resources
  3. Contribute to the School's PSHE and associated programmes
  4. Contribute to the School's university and School access programmes
  5. Contribute one enrichment/after school activity per term
  6. Support the School's programme of trips and activities
  7. Participate in the School's induction programmes for new students
  8. Support the School welfare team by ensuring concerns are communicated and acted on
  9. Play a full part in your own professional development and that of colleagues
  10. Attend appropriate meetings and in-service training programmes
  11. Contribute to the development and implementation of the School's vision
  12. Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and others
  13. Fulfil wider professional responsibilities
  14. Participate in the School's appraisal and performance management processes
  15. Undertake other appropriate tasks that the Headmaster may assign

PERSON SPECIFICATION

The job requires that you have:

  1. A good academic degree in a key curriculum subject area and hold QTS
  2. Effective time management skills
