Teacher of Physical Education - Girls

Main Scale – Upper Pay Scale

(M1 £31,650 – UPS3 £49,084)

St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy is committed to ensuring all who work and learn in it can be the very best versions of themselves that they can be; we believe in fostering a community where all are loved and belong. To help us to live out our mission, we are seeking to appoint an excellent teacher of Girls’ Physical Education who will join a thriving team of specialist and highly experienced practitioners, including the Head of Department who is a SLE.

The PE department expects and achieves extremely high standards as a result of exceptional teamwork, dedication, and commitment. With ever-improving facilities, there is a wide offer of curriculum activities together with extra-curricular opportunities for all year groups within the academy. The department benefits from a close working relationship with Loughborough University, is committed to the Outward-Bound Trust through which it offers at least two residential trips each year, and has exemplary links with our partner primary schools which enables bespoke curriculum development and collaborative sporting opportunities. The successful candidate would be expected to support the development of all curriculum areas as well as sharing a role in the organisation of trips and extra-curricular pursuits.

The post will involve teaching at KS3, KS4, as well as KS5 for those who are suitably qualified and experienced, as PE A Level is offered across the Trinity Sixth Form.

St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy is a happy, popular, oversubscribed 11-18 academy with an impressive record of success, acknowledged in our inspection in 2021 (full report on school/Ofsted website).

Applications from ECTs (for whom excellent support is available) are welcomed.

The Academy is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people and expects all of its employees to share this commitment. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Amendment Order 1986 and, as such, it will be necessary for a Submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous convictions.

Potential candidates are welcome to visit the school by appointment. Application forms and further details are available on the Academy website and also from Mrs C Hollins (Academy Manager) on 01782 883000 ext. 037 or chollins@smwca.org.uk.
