Rochdale Sixth Form College is seeking a creative, skilled and enthusiastic Teacher of Graphic Design and Art to join our outstanding Visual Arts department. This is a rare opportunity to shape and deliver an exciting, forward-thinking curriculum that equips our students with both the technical skill and conceptual understanding needed for success in the creative industries or further study.

About The Role

As a Teacher of Graphic Design and Art, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons across a range of courses, including A-Level Graphic Design and A-Level Art and Design (Fine Art). You'll bring a rich understanding of digital and traditional techniques and be passionate about helping students develop a personal and professional artistic voice.

You Will

  • Deliver engaging, skills-based and conceptual lessons that encourage experimentation, independence, and critical thinking.
  • Use a range of media, including digital platforms like Adobe Creative Suite, to support students in developing portfolios that meet the highest standards.
  • Assess student work in line with awarding body specifications and provide constructive feedback that supports progression.
  • Contribute to the wider enrichment offer through workshops, exhibitions, and college events.
  • Work collaboratively with a small, committed team of art educators who share resources, ideas, and a deep belief in the power of creative education.
What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a subject specialist in Graphic Design (with skills in Art & Design/Fine Art a strong advantage).
  • Has experience teaching at Level 2 and/or A-Level (PGCE-qualified or with QTS/QTLS).
  • Has excellent subject knowledge and an up-to-date understanding of curriculum developments in creative education.
  • Can manage workload effectively and inspire students through imaginative teaching and high expectations.
  • Brings enthusiasm, innovation and a commitment to inclusive, student-centred learning.
