The Vacancy

Job Title: Lecturer in Engineering and Physics

Location: Middlesbrough College MC6, TS2 1AD

Department: A-Levels

Reporting to: Assistant Principal Sixth Form

Salary: £26,685 - £41,208 per annum (subject to a progression criteria)

(pro-rata, depending on whether the role is taken as a full-time equivalent (1 FTE) or as a job share.)

Annual Leave: 45 days per annum plus bank holidays (pro-rata, depending on whether the role is taken as a full-time equivalent (1 FTE) or as a job share.)

Contractual hours: 37 hours per week (depending on whether the role is taken as a full-time equivalent (1 FTE) or pro-rata as a job share)

Teaching hours: 864 hours per annum (pro-rata, depending on whether the role is taken as a full-time equivalent (1 FTE) or as a job share.)

Basis: Full time (depending on whether the role is taken as a full-time equivalent (1 FTE) or as a part-time job share.)

An exciting opportunity has emerged for a Lecturer in Engineering and Physics to join our MC6 A-Levels team. This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape the next generation of Engineering and Physics professionals while playing a key role in a thriving academic community.

What You'll Be Doing:

As a Lecturer in Engineering and Physics, you will:

  1. Deliver and manage high-quality, inclusive teaching, learning, and assessment in the Engineering and Physics sector.
  2. Provide hands-on and theoretical instruction in specific areas, e.g. Engineering and Physics.
  3. Support students' academic and personal growth, helping them achieve their full potential.
  4. Develop and implement lesson plans that connect classroom learning to real-world applications.
  5. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the learning experience and address the needs of all students.
  6. Support student recruitment, retention, achievement, and progression, providing guidance and tailored support.

What We're Looking For:

We seek candidates who:

  1. Hold a minimum Level 3 Engineering and Physics qualification (Essential) or a relevant Degree, and GCSEs in English and Maths.
  2. Are a qualified Teacher or willing to work towards qualification.
  3. Have current knowledge and experience in teaching Engineering and/or Physics.
  4. Demonstrate effective classroom management, excellent time management, and strong communication skills.
  5. Are proficient in preparing teaching materials using Information Learning Technology.
