Why we're hiring:

WPP is looking for a Tax Reporting & Risk Manager to further strengthen and grow the group's tax reporting and risk processes. This exciting position will provide significant exposure across the entire WPP global group, present in over 100 countries, and offers a platform for a motivated individual to become a key contributor to our team.

Working within the WPP Tax team, you will collaborate closely with finance teams across our various agency groups and our HQ functions, receiving mentorship and support from the Tax Reporting Director and other members of the WPP Tax team.

What you'll be doing:

Reporting to the Tax Reporting Director and Group Tax Director, the role will involve:

Tax Reporting

  1. Supporting the year-end and interim group consolidated tax accrual and tax disclosure notes under IFRS, partnering with our auditors throughout
  2. Preparing forecasts of the group's headline Effective Tax Rate (ETR)
  3. Providing necessary training to finance colleagues on tax reporting requirements
  4. Preparing deferred tax assets/liabilities schedules
  5. Preparation of the Group's Country by Country reporting information
  6. Assisting the Group's BEPS Pillar 2 compliance requirements
  7. Supporting business units with tax accounting issues
  8. Modelling and analysing the impact of legislative or accounting standard changes
  9. Preparation of presentations to the Audit Committee and Tax Risk Committee

Tax Risk

  1. Confirming necessary Sarbanes-Oxley documentation is in place for tax reporting processes
  2. Updating Internal Controls in respect of any changes to tax reporting processes
  3. Ensuring that the Group's Tax Control Framework, including tax strategy, policies, risk identification methods and controls remains fit for purpose
  4. Managing our procedures for the UK Corporate Criminal Offence for failing to prevent the facilitation of tax evasion ('CCO'), including continuing monitoring of risk
  5. Supporting the UK Senior Accounting Officer ('SAO') process and preparing presentations in relation to the HMRC Business Risk Review ('BRR') process
  6. Collaborating with wider Group HQ functions such as Internal Audit, Risk & Controls and Business Integrity on tax risk matters

What you'll need:

  1. Practical experience of working within a large group or advising FTSE100 clients on tax reporting and risk requirements
  2. A good working knowledge of international tax principles and familiarity with the BEPS Pillar 2 regime
  3. Strong excel knowledge and experience
  4. ACA or ACCA qualified Tax Manager with experience of tax reporting and accounting
  5. Good understanding of tax risk requirements
  6. Able to build relationships and trust within the organisation and work effectively as part of diverse teams
