Tax Advisory Assistant Manager/Manager

The role

The role will focus on the delivery of a wide range of tax advisory work to business clients and companies. This work would include advising on transactions, undertaking tax due diligence, advising on corporate reorganisations, employee share incentives and undertaking tax valuations. The role would involve working directly for tax partners and directors, but the candidate would be encouraged to build their own relationships with both clients and other internal non-tax partners and to work collaboratively with other colleagues in London and regional offices and to work closely with the Corporate Finance team.

The responsibilities

1. Advising client management teams and shareholders on business disposals and acquisitions.
2. Running and coordinating tax due diligence projects, working closely with the corporate finance team and the employment tax and VAT teams.
3. Advising on and assisting with the implementation of corporate reorganisations such as capital reduction and s110 demergers.
4. Undertaking tax valuations for corporate reorganisations.
5. Review of share purchase agreements, tax covenants and tax disclosure letters in connection with business acquisitions and disposals.
6. Preparing HMRC statutory and non-statutory clearance applications.
7. Advising on structuring international groups and cross border corporate transactions, including liaising with other firms in the Nexia network.
8. Advising on structuring property acquisitions and disposals.
9. Advising on the interpretation and application of double tax agreements in respect of corporate transactions.
10. Liaising with tax compliance teams on follow-up compliance work arising from transactions.

You

The role would suit an ACA/CTA qualified person with some post qualification experience in corporation tax, due diligence, and M&A. Although some experience in these areas is desirable it not essential. A willingness to learn and a keen desire to become involved in new areas being the key. The role may therefore suit an individual with a predominantly corporation tax compliance background but with strong technical skills and a desire to move into advisory work. Some practical experience of accounting standards and knowledge of accounts is essential.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

1. An ability to provide advice and solutions to technical tax queries and interpret technical matters of varying complexity and communicate this information clearly to clients and other team members.
2. Prepare advisory reports and correspondence on complex/technical tax matters.
3. Strong UK tax technical skills and understanding.
4. Project management skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines, monitor budgets.
5. Provide feedback on the progress of work to those involved including clients, colleagues, and other advisers, keeping them informed of developments.
6. Build and maintain relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
7. Client focus and commercially aware.
8. Commitment to building strong client relationship management with ability to develop quality outputs to clients.
9. Excellent communicator, both written and oral, in a range of situations and to a range of stakeholders.
10. Ensure delivery of quality work and take day to day responsibility for projects.
