About the role:
Moonshot is currently recruiting an Interventions Analyst to work across multiple departments and projects to support delivery of social media insights, online intervention campaigns, and the development of localised violence prevention infrastructure.
As an Interventions Analyst you will play a key role in identifying and researching the local dynamics in fragile and conflict-affected countries, ensuring that Moonshot’s interventions are effective and culturally sensitive.You will be responsible for building relationships with relevant stakeholders, identifying and coordinating with service providers, and conducting background research to inform programmatic decisions.
Your role will span three main areas:
- Insights: You will support projects focused on gathering and analysing open-source data and carrying out aspects of delivery for insights products designed for a variety of customers. A core responsibility will be analysing large, extremism-related social media datasets.
- Digital intervention campaigns: you will support the design and implementation of individualised programs aiming to reach individuals at-risk of online harms - including violent extremism, gender-based violence (including tech-facilitated gender-based violence), and mis/disinformation. You will support the design, implementation and maintenance of cross-platform pathways connecting at-risk individuals with resources and support services.
- Network development: You will support the management team in researching, conducting initial outreach and ongoing coordination between Moonshot and community-based organisations working to prevent violence. You will support the training and capacity development of organisations delivering support services to individuals at risk for targeted violence.
Your responsibilities will include:
Insights:
- Identification, collection and analysis of information from a range of data sources relevant to online harms, including social media data and other data sources covered by our in-house tools.
- Drafting analytical reports to a high standard, delivering valuable findings in a concise and robust manner.
- Presenting findings verbally to clients
- Anticipating and resolving potential barriers to the delivery of the project; taking responsibility for improvements to processes.
- Maintaining databases and conducting regular reviews of social media and messaging platforms for inclusion into the project.
- Researching and drafting deep dives into trends and themes identified in online ecosystems relevant to online harms.
Digital Campaigns:
- Supporting the design, delivery and maintenance of online outreach campaigns.
- Identification, collection and analysis of information from a range of data sources, including social media, violent extremist materials and other data sources covered by our in-house tools.
- Designing quantitative and qualitative research methods to collect and analyse large datasets.
- Drafting analytical reports and presenting findings verbally to key stakeholders.
- Developing and sharing subject matter expertise related to violent extremism and online harms.
Network development:
- Conduct in-depth research to understand the political, social, and cultural context of fragile and conflict-affected settings, focusing on local dynamics and potential barriers to effective interventions.
- Identify and assess relevant service providers that can support intervention efforts, ensuring their capacity and alignment with Moonshot’s mission.
- Apply a deep understanding of the country context to help shape interventions that are tailored to the needs of the local population while considering cultural sensitivities and conflict dynamics.
- Support relationship building with key stakeholders.
- Support event planning and logistics for Moonshot-facilitated training and meetings.
- Administrative support included subcontractor processes.
Essential:
- Professional experience involving analysis and investigation using open-source research and OSINT methods.
- An ability to problem solve, troubleshoot and develop innovative solutions to complex research issues.
- Ability to conduct thorough background research and produce insightful reports that inform programme design.
- Ability to scan large volumes of data and identify the most valuable pieces of information.
- Excellent team working skills with the ability to collaborate effectively and respond flexibly to challenges.

- The ability to communicate complex findings both in writing and orally. Clear, concise communication is essential.

- In addition, we require and will check on candidates' eligibility to work in the UK and DBS checks. Candidates will be expected to undertake any relevant security clearance procedures per the needs of clients.
Desirable:
- Experience in supporting digital communications campaigns, and ideally across one or more of the following topics: social media analysis, monitoring and evaluation, capacity building, interventions.
- Relevant professional or research experience in violence prevention, public safety, countering violent extremism or other online harms.
- Demonstrated ability to source, interpret and analyse both quantitative and qualitative data, particularly social media or digital marketing data.
- Experience of supporting projects covering one or more of the following topics: social media analysis, digital communications campaigns, monitoring and evaluation, capacity building, interventions.
- Subject matter knowledge in one of the following areas: violent extremism, hate crimes, human trafficking.
- Experience of supporting projects covering one or more of the following topics: interventions, capacity building, social media analysis, digital communications campaigns, monitoring and evaluation.
- Fluency in languages other than English.
