Job description

We have been awarded the “Most Loved Workplace”! At Metro Bank, people come first – our culture is all about bringing out the best in our colleagues, and making sure everyone feels valued, respected, seen and included. We strongly believe in a diverse and inclusive workplace and to find the very best person for the job, we always look across a wide range of diverse communities.

What You Will Do

  • Partner and build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders across the bank to understand resourcing needs in the short and long term (horizon scanning).
  • Design, develop and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract high quality candidates, leveraging various channels such as job boards, social media, networking events etc.
  • Lead and tailor end to end recruitment processes, including candidate sourcing, screening, interviewing and selection, ensuring a positive candidate experience throughout.
  • Proactively identify and engage with top tier talent through head hunting and direct sourcing techniques to support the Bank’s succession planning ambitions and talent pipelining.
  • Act as a trusted advisor by providing expert guidance and support to the hiring community on recruitment best practices, standards, and compliance including but not limited to Assessment & Selection methods, Interview techniques, talent pipelining, and Employee Value Proposition.
  • Partner with the wider People Team (i.e. People Partners, Reward) to ensure alignment between recruitment activities and broader HR initiatives including organisational design and reward strategies.
  • Monitor and track recruitment metrics (KPI’s) and analyze/identify trends, measure the effectiveness of recruitment strategies, and provide insight for continuous improvements.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and legal requirements related to recruitment, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of recruitment activity to meet regulatory reporting standards.
  • Build strong relationships with external parties/partners including executive search firms where required to deliver against the Bank’s recruitment needs.

And... we are a bank so risk is a part of everything we do. We love people who take responsibility, do the right thing for customers, colleagues, and Metro Bank, and have the ability to call out any concerns.

What You Will Need

  • Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank, and all our stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience of leading end to end recruitment processes, with a focus on head hunting, market mapping, and direct sourcing in the Banking and Finance Industry.
  • Demonstrate high levels of agility and ability to adapt to changes and operate as part of a high performing team.
  • Excellent stakeholder management experience: proven experience partnering, influencing, and advising the business to deliver successful recruitment outcomes.
  • Ability to deliver high-touch candidate experience that reflects the bank’s values and EVP.
  • Experience in embedding DE&I principles into sourcing/hiring practices and challenging the hiring community (where applicable) to build inclusive teams.
  • Proactively use recruitment metrics and analytics to track performance, manage talent pipelines, identify trends to inform decision making, and prioritize workload.
  • Led projects and recruitment related initiatives aimed at enhancing and optimizing recruitment capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of recruitment technologies including ATS, Selection tools/methodologies, AI, social media, and other innovative sourcing techniques.
  • Well versed in managing third party suppliers/vendors and recruitment partners and holding them accountable against KPIs and SLAs.
  • Experience in resolving escalations and conflict professionally and efficiently.
  • Naturally data centric and comfortable presenting to colleagues and senior leadership teams.
  • Understanding of banking regulations and how these apply to recruitment processes.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem solving.

Our promise to you…

  • We will make sure that you are well-rewarded by providing you with a competitive salary, discretionary annual bonus, and a wide range of benefits, including generous holiday allowance, attractive pension scheme, healthcare, life assurance, and a number of colleague discounts!
  • We will give you the training to ensure you succeed in your role and plenty of internal opportunities to progress your career (around 40% of our recruitment comes from internal promotions!).
  • We are also all about balance so most of our jobs offer the opportunity for hybrid working built around your role and home life, wherever possible.

Diverse teams really are the best teams. We know that candidates (especially women, research tells us) may be put off applying for a job unless they can tick every box. We also know that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t always doable, and while we can’t accommodate every flexible working request we are happy to be asked. So if you are excited about working with us and think you can do much of what we are looking for but aren’t sure if you are 100% there yet… why not give it a whirl? Please note that sometimes we may close a job earlier for applications if we are inundated with amazing candidates. Good luck!
