Systems Support – Security Technology Specialist

Job Title: Systems Support – Security Technology Specialist
Reporting to: Technical Security Manager

JOB SUMMARY

Supporting a large operational/physical security team with their technical requirements. Responsible for Desktop, Server and Network Infrastructure support plus a diverse range of IOT, mobile devices and gadgets. Large inventory of Cisco Catalyst, HP, Dell, Supermicro and bespoke security software (CCTV, Access Control etc).

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. WINDOWS DESKTOP AND SERVER INFRASTRUCTURE
    – Desktop support across multiple bespoke applications.
    – Hardware (server and workstation) build and installation.
    – Bespoke software deployment.
    – Administration of users, shares and data management.
    – Monitor server performance, security and functionality.
  2. CISCO NETWORKING AND CONNECTIVITY
    – Identify network hardware and cabling requirements.
    – Troubleshoot network issues.
    – Cisco switch and firewall configuration, monitoring and maintenance.
  3. CLIENT APPLICATIONS
    – Perform administration tasks for various bespoke applications and databases.
    – Install, upgrade and maintain various bespoke client applications.
    – Provide demonstrations and training to end users.
  4. MISCELLANEOUS
    – Problem solve, develop processes and procedures.
    – Manage transition to outsourcing some support tasks.
    – Research and develop systems to meet operational requirements.
    – Contribute towards department technology roadmap.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
– Strong desktop/server support skillset – preferably with non-generic software products.
– An understanding of network infrastructure and connectivity principles. Experience of Cisco networking hardware and Microsoft server architecture.
– A recognized Cisco and Microsoft qualification an advantage.
– A willingness to study and progress to learn various IT disciplines.
– A logical approach to problem solving and the ability to learn quickly.
– Flexible and willing to tackle a broad range of technology issues.
– Experience working with Security Technology (CCTV, Access Control etc.) devices an advantage.
– The ability to work outside normal business hours when necessary.
– The incumbent must have an appreciation of the importance of customer service and how this is applied in the context of the business.
