Job summary
An established industry player is seeking a Systems Programmer with expertise in z/OS and Mainframe systems. This hybrid role involves a mix of remote work and client site presence, primarily in Barnsley. The successful candidate will be responsible for upgrading and maintaining the z/OS operating system, as well as supporting ISV products from leading vendors. Ideal candidates will possess extensive experience in Mainframe systems programming and demonstrate strong problem determination and risk management skills. Systems Programmer (z/OS)
Hybrid working - Mix of Remote and Client site in Barnsley
Salary Banding - £45K - £60K (possibly more depending on level of experience)
Responsibilities will include:
- Upgrading, maintaining and supporting the z/OS operating system.
- Upgrading, maintaining and supporting ISV products particularly from the vendors; IBM and Computer Associates (CA).
- Production support.
The ideal candidates for this role will have the below experience:
- Must have extensive experience of Mainframe systems programming. This is essential to the role.
- Must have knowledge of a combination of z/OS, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, JCL.
- Must have knowledge of IBM and CA Products and be able to work independently.
- Must have excellent problem determination skills.
- Have some experience of creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans which consistently deliver desired results.
- A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own and others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes.
