Systems Administrator

Reporting into the IT & Infrastructure Team Leader, the Systems Administrator will be working within an operations team to ensure operational reliability, security, and integrity throughout the administration, change, and delivery of the application, including the roll-out to additional projects. This is a hybrid working role, with travel required to our HQ in Warwick as well as to various datacentres and Network Rail Electrical Control rooms across the UK on occasion.

What you'll do:

  1. Day to day operational support, responding to requirements from application development teams, the customer, and system management team.
  2. Plan and implement security and infrastructure product upgrades to avoid technology obsolescence and take advantage of the latest product features and capabilities.
  3. Resolve technical queries regarding system architecture, perform complex troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  4. Maintain the system documentation including technical architecture, configuration state, product licensing, and operational processes and procedures.
  5. Perform troubleshooting where required, and lead problem-solving effort, liaising with vendors and other third parties when necessary.
  6. Maintain security integrity to protect systems from unauthorized use, unplanned failure, and other potential threats.

Who you are:

You will have previous experience working in a Systems Administration (3rd Line Support) role with extensive knowledge around Microsoft and VMWare technologies.

Key Requirements:

  1. Strong previous system administration experience working with appropriate security and infrastructure systems.
  2. Strong technical knowledge of Trellix Security products.
  3. Experience working with the following technologies: Microsoft Server and client operating systems, Active Directory, VMware vSphere, SCOM, SCCM, MS SQL, Monitoring Tools, Security, GPO, DHCP, DNS, Updates and Patching, NetApp and Dell storage solutions.
  4. Strong investigative and problem-solving skills.
  5. ITIL Qualification is preferred.
