System Development Engineer, WW AMZL Innovation and Design Engineering

DESCRIPTION

Amazon opened its virtual doors in 1995 and strives to be the world's most customer-centric company, where customers can find and discover anything they might want to buy online. Amazon Logistics (AMZL) is looking to hire an experienced, innovative, hands-on, and customer-obsessed Software Development Engineer to lead the software development of new robotic products to integrate into our Delivery Station of the future. The successful candidate will be a member of the Amazon Logistics Innovation Engineering team and will be responsible to strategize, define and manage the software development of robotics technologies for the AMZL Delivery Stations.
This role requires experienced and entrepreneurial minded individuals with combined robotics, engineering, planning and analytical skills. This individual will directly influence the Amazon last mile automation roadmap by partnering with Robotics, SW Tech Teams, Process Engineering teams, Operations, Facilities and Engineering teams to improve our final customer shopping experience.

Key job responsibilities
As a Sys Dev Engineer, you will be a part of the team of experts working on the development of complex mechatronics products. The keys skills required for this role are:

  1. Advanced technical expertise in industrial automation systems (TIA Portal 16+, Codesys 3.5, HMI, VFDs, Servo Drive, Industrial Fieldbuses like Ethernet-IP Profinet EtherCAT, IO-Link)
  2. Advanced technical expertise in the industrial communication protocol (TCP-IP, OPC-UA)
  3. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities for complex systems
  4. Hands-on experience with camera systems and Linux OS (preferred)
  5. Familiarity with version control systems like git
  6. Knowledge of Object-Orientated Industrial Programming (OOIP)
  7. Experience managing software development, including designing, developing, integrating, troubleshooting, and optimizing various automation solutions
  8. Strong project management skills, including on-site commissioning and Site Acceptance Testing processes
  9. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills across diverse cultural contexts
  10. Familiarity with international safety machinery standards and certification processes
  11. Experience with automation solutions like conveyors, sorters, and robotic work cells

A day in the life
You will develop and continuously improve software for AMZL. You will work with Product owners and System Developers to define and develop the software structure for new concepts for AMZL with automation and robotics technology. You will deep dive on understanding software of new techs made by vendors and how to integrate them into the AMZL Software Architecture. You will test and commission the developed software on machines deployed in Innovation Centers WW as well as on busy operational sites.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or equivalent
  2. Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
  3. Experience in systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement
  4. Experience building tools for building, testing, releasing, or monitoring
  5. Non-internship professional software/system development experience
  6. Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
  7. Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) new and existing systems
  8. Experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems, and hands-on systems engineering
  9. Experience programming with CODESYS and one other modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java
  2. Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology
