About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced System Architect specializing in Computer-Aided Facility Management (CAFM) and Integrated Workplace Management Systems (IWMS) to lead the architecture, design, and implementation of cutting-edge workplace and facility management solutions. You will be a key player in defining the enterprise-wide strategy for these systems, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and aligned with the organization’s digital transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of facility management technologies, system integration, and cloud infrastructure, along with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive business objectives through technology.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Systems Architecture and Design:
- Lead the end-to-end architecture and design of enterprise CAFM and IWMS systems, ensuring alignment with business goals and technology roadmaps.
- Architect solutions that integrate CAFM/IWMS platforms with other enterprise systems such as ERP (e.g., SAP, Oracle), CRM (e.g., Salesforce), HRIS (e.g., Workday), and financial management systems.
- Create comprehensive architectural diagrams and design specifications for the deployment and integration of CAFM/IWMS systems, focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Define standards and best practices for system configuration, data management, and customization of IWMS/CAFM platforms to meet specific organizational needs.
2. System Integration and Data Interoperability:
- Design and implement robust integration frameworks using APIs, web services (SOAP/REST), and middleware to ensure seamless connectivity between CAFM/IWMS platforms and other enterprise applications.
- Manage data flows between systems, ensuring real-time data synchronization and accuracy across platforms (e.g., space management, asset management, maintenance tracking, financial data).
- Architect solutions for efficient data migration from legacy systems to CAFM/IWMS platforms, ensuring data integrity and business continuity.
- Develop and manage data models that provide a unified view of space, assets, work orders, and other key facility data.
3. Cloud and Infrastructure Management:
- Design cloud-based and hybrid cloud architectures for hosting CAFM/IWMS systems, leveraging platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Optimize system performance through load balancing, redundancy, and disaster recovery strategies for both on-premises and cloud-hosted solutions.
- Ensure high availability and performance of CAFM/IWMS systems by utilizing appropriate monitoring tools, alert mechanisms, and automated scaling.
- Provide guidance on virtualized environments, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure automation to streamline deployment processes.
4. Security, Compliance, and Risk Management:
- Establish and maintain security protocols for CAFM/IWMS systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2) and local regulatory requirements.
- Implement encryption, identity management (IAM), and role-based access control (RBAC) to protect sensitive facility data, including building access, maintenance schedules, and asset inventories.
- Perform security audits and risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities in the system architecture, mitigating risks before they affect operations.
- Work with the IT security team to ensure compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, and other regulatory frameworks where applicable.
5. Leadership and Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate with business leaders from departments such as Facilities, Real Estate, Operations, and IT to gather detailed requirements, establish priorities, and ensure alignment of CAFM/IWMS initiatives with business goals.
- Act as a technical consultant and subject matter expert on CAFM/IWMS best practices, offering strategic insights into optimizing space utilization, maintenance efficiency, and asset lifecycle management.
- Lead technical teams, including developers, system integrators, and consultants, in the successful delivery of CAFM/IWMS projects.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to junior architects, fostering an environment of continuous learning and technical growth.
6. System Implementation and Project Management:
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocation for CAFM/IWMS implementations, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Oversee system configuration, testing, and rollout activities, working closely with internal IT teams and external vendors to resolve any issues that arise during deployment.
- Define KPIs and metrics to track the success and adoption of CAFM/IWMS systems post-implementation, ensuring ongoing optimization and user satisfaction.
7. Support and Continuous Improvement:
- Ensure proactive system monitoring and support, diagnosing and resolving issues quickly to minimize operational disruptions.
- Coordinate system upgrades, patches, and new feature deployments, ensuring backward compatibility and minimal downtime.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, new features, and enhancements from CAFM/IWMS vendors and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Foster a culture of continuous feedback from users to improve system usability, functionality, and performance.
Key Requirements:
Technical Skills:
- CAFM/IWMS Expertise: In-depth experience with major CAFM/IWMS platforms such as IBM TRIRIGA, Archibus, Planon, Accruent, SpaceIQ, or FM
- Enterprise Architecture: Advanced skills in systems architecture, including designing for scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability.
- Data Management & Analytics: Expertise in data modeling, SQL databases, data warehousing, and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik.
- Cloud Architecture: Proven experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and a deep understanding of cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, and serverless architectures.
- System Integration: Expertise in integration technologies, including APIs, ETL tools, and middleware platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Dell Boomi).
- Network & Security: Strong understanding of network architecture and security, including firewalls, VPNs, and data encryption techniques.
- DevOps & Automation: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible) for automating deployments and ensuring system consistency.
Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in systems architecture and implementation, with at least 3-5 years focused on CAFM/IWMS solutions.
- Proven track record of successfully leading CAFM/IWMS implementation projects for large-scale enterprises.
- Experience working in diverse industries such as real estate, facilities management, retail, healthcare, or higher education is a plus.
Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications in systems architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, or vendor-specific certifications for CAFM/IWMS platforms.
- Additional certifications in Project Management (PMP), Agile (Scrum Master, SAFe), or Cloud Architecture (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect) are desirable.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical skills and a keen attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Leadership and team-building experience, with a focus on mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
