The Council's Finance Department provides a range of effective, efficient and high-quality professional services with support to Members, managers, staff, services, schools, and a range of external partners in the delivery of the Council's objectives.

We are seeking an enthusiastic systems administrator to manage the operational administration of the Council's core Financial systems in accordance with corporate needs, legislation changes, systems requirements, and the needs of individual system users. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management and maintenance of the systems ensuring efficient and effective functionality for all users. You will also lead on the implementation of new software and upgrades to existing software, ensuring they are fully tested and liaising with relevant software suppliers and users.

The role involves:

  1. Continuous review, development, and improvement of systems to meet new initiatives, legislation, and objectives
  2. Contributing to system developments to make better use of system functionality
  3. Collaborating with other teams to improve system integration and operation
  4. Managing the Financial Systems customer fault logging system (OTRS) ensuring all calls logged are resolved in a timely manner
  5. Production of ad hoc reports and analysis to address data integrity
  6. Training financial system users on new tools and responding to users' enquiries
  7. Managing, training, and developing staff

QCF (NVQ) Level 4 or equivalent in a related field, or ability to demonstrate significant experience in major financial systems administration is essential for this role, as well as knowledge and understanding of financial operations within a Local Government environment. The successful candidate also needs to have excellent ICT skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent organisation and presentational skills, and the ability to manage and motivate staff to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.

Protecting children, young people, or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.

Criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.

The council's Hybrid Working Policy applies to this post, providing a framework for establishing how you will undertake working hours between your home and the office.

Weekend working is a requirement for this post.
