Synthetic Chemist - Senior Scientist I (12 months)

Are you a knowledgeable scientist who has an excellent understanding of synthetic chemistry and data analysis? Are you now looking for an exciting new challenge? If so, we have a fantastic opportunity to join the Chemistry team here at Domainex, a multi-disciplinary integrated drug discovery contract research organisation.

You will work alongside experienced researchers involved in a range of client projects and have access to excellent laboratories, equipment and software.

What Are We Looking For In This Exciting New Role?

  • a passion for synthetic chemistry and be able to propose and execute synthetic routes efficiently
  • effective problem-solving abilities from combining personal knowledge of synthetic methods and techniques, with the desire to seek-out and apply novel and innovative solutions from the wider literature
  • Experience using a range of methods for synthesis, purification and analysis, and interpretation of experimental data
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to summarise and present scientific results & ideas clearly
  • Willing to deploy your synthetic skills across a varied range of client projects as your career progresses.

What Educational Background Are We Expecting?

  • A Ph.D. in organic or organometallic chemistry, or a B.Sc/M.Sc degree in chemistry with > 2 years synthetic chemistry experience in industry

What Additional Experience Do You Have?

  • Prior experience in working at sub-milligram, milligram and/or multigram scales
  • Experience in using automated liquid handling, handling air-sensitive substances, use of a glovebox, and/or in transition metal catalysed reactions
  • Experience in data handling, manipulation and analysis using Excel, and automated scripts
  • excellent inter-personal skills; proven ability to work in a team and to deliver high quality results

We are based on the Chesterford Research Park just outside the charming market town of Saffron Walden, fifteen miles from the beautiful city of Cambridge. Chesterford Research Park has fabulous facilities including a restaurant, a gym, a seven hole golf course and woodland walks. Close by is the main line railway station of Great Chesterford with a direct train line between Cambridge and London. There is a discounted shuttle service provided to and from the research park from the station.
