Amersham Swimming Club (ASC) based in Buckinghamshire is looking for enthusiastic Swimming Coaches to work with our existing team. Support for additional qualifications is available for the right candidates. Applicants should hold either the Swim England Assistant Swimming Coach Certificate/ASA Level 1 Coaching Award or the Swimming Coach Certificate/Level 2 Award.

These posts report to the Head of Swimming.

Main purpose

To work with our existing coaches to organise and deliver a coaching programme that meets the needs of competitive swimming at ASC, enabling swimmers at all levels from novice, skills and age group through to masters and elite levels to reach their full potential.

• To provide coaching for the swim squads at our facilities in cooperation with the existing coaching team.
• To organise and deliver a coaching programme that meets the needs of competitive swimmers at ASC.
• To motivate the squad members and enhance performance.
• To act as an ambassador for ASC, embodying the values and behaviours of the organisation set within the organisational strategy.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Job Activities:

• Provide coaching plans for short-, medium- and long-term cycle frameworks.
• Partner with the wider coaching team in the development of coaching programmes and competitive pathways.
• Monitor activity during training sessions and provide feedback to swimmers.
• Conduct 1-2-1 meetings with swimmers and parents to discuss ambition, target, and achievements where necessary.
• Implement ASC policies and procedures as required.
• Perform duties as required within the contracted time.
• Attendance with athletes at scheduled swimming competitions – as required.
• Contribute to the improvement and efficiency of the financial performance of the Performance Dive Scheme.
• Propose changes to the Diving Development Strategy (and where necessary practical coaching methods) in response to national trends and local opportunities.
• Prepares newsletters and reports for Management as required.

Supervision

• Ability to work unsupervised.
• Offer advice to other coaches and ensure a strong team environment with them.

Work Complexity

• Needs to follow national trends in aquatic dive coaching delivery.
