Swim England London is an incorporated regional body working in partnership with Swim England, the national governing body for aquatic sports. We focus on the specific needs of our clubs and members ensuring that our practices and policies keep up to date with the needs of all aquatic sports across London. There is a management board of directors who are elected by its members.
Swim England London comprises the 32 London Boroughs plus the City of London.
We are currently recruiting for an independent member to Chair our Audit & Risk Committee on a voluntary basis.
About The Role
The purpose of the Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee is to provide strategic leadership and oversight for the audit and risk management functions of the organisation ensuring that the Board meets its obligations, regulations and responsibilities in these areas.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
- To Chair three online meetings per year and provide leadership and support to the Audit and Risk Committee, ensuring all minutes of meetings are uploaded onto Sharepoint.
- Oversee the arrangement for the prevention of fraud/corruption within Swim England London Region and to be formally notified of any breaches.
- Oversee and consider the risk management process.
- Be available to be consulted by staff, Board Directors, and volunteers regarding issues of fraud, inappropriate/illegal payments, and other issues of an illegal/inappropriate nature as it relates to the operation of the organisation.
- Investigate relevant issues and determine whether any breakdown in formal procedures has occurred and report to the relevant Committee or Board the outcome of its investigation and any recommended actions arising from those investigations.
- Bring to the attention of the relevant Committee or Board at the earliest opportunity any evidence of ultra-vires transactions, improper acts, bribery, or other important matters.
About YouYou will be someone who brings an elevated level of knowledge of Audit and Risk Management and be able to act independently and impartially.
This role is vital for ensuring the integrity and sustainability of Swim England London's operations, providing assurance to the Board of Directors and stakeholders that risks are being managed effectively, and that the organisation is operating within a robust control environment.
The Audit and Risk Chair will bring a rigorous, objective, and strategic approach to the organisation's audit and risk management activities.
