Job Overview
Wire and Cable (WNC) is part of the Aerospace Defense and Marine business (AD&M) within TE’s industrial business segment, supplying customers with electronic components that include ruggedized electronic interconnect solutions, harness components and harness assemblies.
We are currently offering an exciting opportunity to be part of our dynamic team supporting and developing the next generation of Wire and Cable product. The team is looking for an enthusiastic, hands-on Material Science Engineer to sustain & grow the business through continuous improvement and design iterations, contributing as part of a team and as an individual to deliver the WNC Engineering strategy & vision.
The candidate must possess knowledge and skills covering material science, polymer product manufacturing processes and have a basic understanding of relevant technologies and current industry practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering support for product used and sold to the Aerospace and Military markets
- Coordinating product Qualification and Qualification retention efforts through understanding of Specification requirements, compiling Qualification Test Plans, overseeing testing and ensuring proper documentation
- Organizing experiments, trials, testing and collating data to sustain existing product ranges
- Writing Test Plans and Reports, and updating existing product specifications when required
- Providing product Compliance oversight to REACH/ROHS requirements
- Providing support for product and materials obsolescence and product migration
- Supporting continuous improvement activities for product streamlining
- Working closely with Lead Engineers, Product Managers, Process Engineers and Operations to successfully implement engineering changes Communicating and resolving technical issues for legacy products with internal and external customers.
What your background should look like:
- Bachelor of Science in Materials. Master’s degree is desirable
- Strong polymer material science background, with hands-on test and processing ability
- Knowledge of Mil-Aero and Space products/materials desirable
- A good knowledge of health and safety procedures
- Green Belt in Six Sigma Design preferred. If not, must be willing to pursue
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Able to work across global multicultural team
- High level of written and spoken English language
- Capable of working under limited or no supervision, will take ownership and accountability for project tasks
