Allen & York is delighted to be partnering with a leading manufacturer of steel products as they look to recruit a Sustainability Specialist to join the Team and work closely with the Quality & Sustainability Manager to drive sustainability improvements throughout the business, and further afield to their customers and suppliers.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with prior experience in a sustainability role, ideally in a manufacturing or engineering setting, who wants to join a highly successful business with a large manufacturing site in Shropshire.
You will be responsible for liaising with a large number of external bodies, including clients, customers and regulatory bodies, as well as collaborating internally with all departments, communicating with engineers in manufacturing right up to the Board, where you'll present data and reports. As such, your stakeholder engagement, communication and report writing skills will be excellent and you may even attend conferences and events as a representative of the business, so you'll need to be comfortable engaging with different audiences.
From a technical perspective, you'll be responsible for a range of tasks, from ESG governance to sustainability reporting and from data studies to managing the material that is put into the public domain.
You will be comfortable and competent working with large data sets and turning these into meaningful reports and you will get the opportunity to travel within Europe to meet customers and suppliers.
If you have experience of human rights, that would be great as you will be the Human Rights Officer for the business, offering advice and expertise as the designated point of contact (ultimate responsibility for human rights will sit at Group level so don't worry if it's not something you have lots of experience with). In addition, any experience of ISO systems will be beneficial, however you're not going to be looking after the management systems (a good awareness of these will suffice).
This is a site-based role as there is a lot of collaboration with internal departments and you'll be implementing programmes on the ground, however you will be able to work one day from home a week and they are able to offer flexibility around start and finishing times.
So, if you have the right mix of skills and experience and you'd like to find out more about this fantastic opportunity to learn and develop your career in a safe and progressive environment, please send your email to .
