The Opportunity

Castle Point Borough Council is keen to appoint two Surveyors to work in the Housing Services Directorate, managing responsive repairs, voids, planned works and capital across the housing and sheltered stock, ensuring homes are maintained in accordance with agreed quality standards.

You will contribute to delivering a customer-focused, effective, and value-for-money service, reflecting the highest standards of service excellence.

You will play an active role in a high-performing, highly engaged team, promoting a culture of excellent customer service that is resident-focused, data-based, and performance-driven.

Accountabilities

  • Carry out repairs and voids inspections and produce schedules of works.
  • Monitor quality standards through inspections of works in our homes and ensure satisfactory completion of any follow-up work.
  • Monitor health and safety standards throughout work to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Update all IT systems in a timely manner and in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Ensure resident satisfaction with all works in their homes and manage complaints sensitively.
  • Consult and inform residents about works, including mandatory consultation for leasehold properties.
  • Project manage ad-hoc projects ensuring completion on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards.
  • Investigate disrepair claims and provide necessary reports and evidence for our legal team.

The Experience You Will Bring

  • Knowledge of repairs, maintenance, and planned works with the ability to assess building conditions and recommend improvements.
  • Experience supervising and managing contractors to ensure quality control.
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations.
  • Ability to work within council policies and procedures while providing high-quality service.
  • Ensure data accuracy and compliance with information management procedures.
  • Observe health and safety policies, promoting safety for all.
  • Competent use of ICT software and systems.
  • Communicate information logically and concisely to promote understanding.
