Job Description

Are you looking for a career change, one where you can make a real positive impact on people’s lives as a support worker? Every day, you’ll have the chance to improve someone’s day and, at times, change their life entirely. This sense of purpose and fulfilment is unmatched in many other professions.

Whether you’re experienced in this role or completely new to it, all we ask is that you are a fun, kind, and compassionate person. You’ll be based in one of our friendly homes in Wrexham, supporting and empowering adults with Autism and/or learning disabilities to live as independently as possible.

In this role, you’ll be an integral part of enabling the people we support to enjoy their glorious ordinary lives, by fulfilling experiences. Whether it's swimming, arts and crafts, dining out, or going on outings, you'll be supporting them to explore the activities that bring them joy - we can guarantee that no day will be the same.

Your kindness and attention can light up someone's day in ways that words can't capture—rewarding you with smiles, laughter, and the joy of seeing someone feel understood. The personal satisfaction that comes from knowing you have made a real difference in someone’s life is unlike any other.

In Wrexham, MacIntyre Support Workers will earn an hourly rate of £12.00. If you hold an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or a higher qualification, your pay will rise to £12.20 per hour. You will have the opportunity to complete these qualifications whilst working with MacIntyre. This means, on a full-time contract, your annual salary will be £23,463 - £23,854 depending on qualifications.

In addition to your annual salary, you’ll have the opportunity to work sleep-ins at an extra £65 per night. This adds an extra £3,380 to your annual salary if you do 1 sleep in a week. There is also often overtime hours available too!

We will train you on all the formal key skills you will need in terms of Emergency first aid, safeguarding, and giving medication. We hold a number of training courses that you will be expected to attend whilst you are working with MacIntyre, but don’t worry, you will be given plenty of notice.

Please note, we are currently unable to offer sponsorships as we await further guidance from the Home Office. Applications requiring sponsorship cannot be considered at this time. We appreciate your understanding.

What do we want from you?

We are looking for people who share our values, who are warm, friendly and willing to learn, and also who celebrate people’s differences. At MacIntyre, we strive to make all of our staff feel included, valued and respected, just like the people we support.

You don't have to have any past care experience but a kind, caring, creative and patient attitude is a must. You must have a resilient, patient and compassionate attitude as there may be times where you will need to help individuals control and regulate their emotions and anxiety in line with their Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plan. But please do not worry, full training on this will be provided.
