Who are Ambient Support?

Ambient Support, a registered UK charity with over 25 years’ experience in providing care and support services for older people, people with mental health needs, and people with learning disabilities.

Our Learning Disability services can provide care and support for people with a range of complex and specialist needs. We provide person-centred services using a range of support approaches such as Active Support and Positive Behaviour Support to help people gain skills and increase their independence.

Public transport is limited in this area. The buses stop at 6pm and the trains do not run after 9pm and do not run on a Sunday. Therefore, you would need to have your own transport or a means to travel there for your shifts.

The role of our Support Workers:

1. Providing social and emotional support, either at home and/or in their local community.
2. Supporting residents with their personal care including personal hygiene needs if required.
3. Support with their shopping and assisting with budgeting.
4. Building/maintaining relationships with friends and family of our residents.
5. Household tasks including cooking, cleaning, and laundry.
6. Going out for walks, meals, and other activities that supported individuals may want to experience.

Skills and attributes of our Care Support Workers:

1. Ideally you will have experience supporting adults with Learning Disabilities including Autism. However, please do still apply even if you have limited experience in these areas as full training will be provided.
2. You need to be a very calm, caring individual with a positive outlook.
3. Empathy, caring, and sensitivity to the needs of others.
4. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
5. Computer literate.
6. Car driver desirable but not essential.
