Community Integrated Care is one of the UK’s largest health and social care charities. We work hard to enrich the lives of people with many different care needs. It’s exciting and rewarding work, and we’re full of pride and passion for what we do.

Since the early days, we’ve grown to provide many innovative and bespoke care services to thousands of people across England and Scotland. We want to provide support based on the principles of choice, dignity and respect. This resonates in our vision of ‘Your Life, Your Choice’ and our strategy ‘Best Lives Possible’.

We have strong values and we’re proud to pioneer new ways of delivering social care to stand out in our sector. In the past two years, we have won or made the shortlist for over national and regional awards!

We are also focused on our people. Our Support Workers are dedicated and passionate about going ‘the extra mile’ for the people we support and in return, we go the extra mile for them by investing in pay, recognition, wellbeing and continued professional and personal development. We will provide you with all the training, support and personal protective equipment you need in your role and will help you develop, should you decide you want to develop your career with us.

Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role:

  1. We are a small residential home in Pegswood, Morpeth supporting 7 people with learning disabilities and complex health needs.
  2. Our ages range from 34 to 74.
  3. Our needs are very varied and the support we need requires the staff team to be flexible and adaptable to change. We have different challenges in our lives which include visual impairment, diabetes, mental health issues and stoma care as well as learning disabilities.
  4. The staff team are all trained to meet our needs and have specialist training in diabetes and the administration of insulin as well as stoma care.
  5. We love being out and about accessing services in our local community as well as holidays in this country and abroad.
  6. We love going out for meals and visiting coffee shops. Swimming, walking, cinema trips and shopping are important to us. We have a mini bus to get out and about on so being a driver is important to us.
  7. We all have very different personalities and need staff who can adapt to match all of our personalities; we like friendly, fun loving staff who like being on the go and kept busy.
  8. We live in a detached bungalow in a quiet area of Pegswood, we have several communal areas including the kitchen/dining areas and living rooms. We all have our own bedrooms which are decorated to our liking. We like to spend time together watching TV and having movie evenings in the living room and have converted one living room into a sensory area.
  9. We have a large garden where we like to spend time and host parties in the summer.
  10. The service is next door to the GP surgery and there are a few small shops in the village.
  11. We have a double drive to park the mini bus on and for staff and visitors to use and small gardens at the front of the house.
  12. There are 5 staff on each shift and 2 overnight.
  13. The shift pattern consists of -, -, -, sleep in - and night shift - however these are flexible to meet our needs.
  14. We need our staff to be trained in learning disability, mental health, diabetes awareness, stoma care, MAPA and PBS.

Your values:

We know it takes a special person to work in social care and we recognise that not everyone that would be perfect for the role will have professional experience. This is why we're really passionate about recruiting to individuals’ values and we recruit people from all walks of life; from people with vast experience in a support worker or care assistant role, to people with lived experiences who may have friends or relatives with disabilities or have looked after older relatives, to people with no experience at all.

Naturally it is important too that you share our company values - We Include; We Deliver; We Aspire; We Respect; We Enable, which are at the heart of everything we do and ensure that we deliver high quality, consistent care and support. People's values are important to us, so we look for people with:

  • Patience
  • Empathy, compassion and sensitivity to others
  • A strong work ethic
  • Reliability
  • Honesty
  • Determination
  • A problem solver
  • Resilience
