At Protective Care Group, we don't just provide care, we offer a premium, personalised service that transforms the lives of children who have experienced significant trauma. We are looking for passionate, dedicated Support Workers who want to be part of something truly special, where your work will make a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.

Why PCG?

This isn't just another care role, at PCG, you will be part of a specialised service, one that puts the wellbeing and potential of our young people first. Every day, you will be part of a team that faces exceptional challenges but offers support that is not only professional but deeply compassionate.

Our young people don't just need "care" they need mentors, role models, and advocates who are committed to creating a better future, no matter the obstacles.

Requirements
In this role, our young people need their Support Worker to:

  • Be the steady presence they can turn to for guidance, coaching, and mentorship, even when they push boundaries. (Which they will!)
  • Show them that no matter how challenging their behaviour gets, you'll never give up on them. Expect to face physical aggression, verbal aggression, absconding, self-harm, and sexualised behaviours. But let's not forget the incredible progress some of our most challenging young people have made.

What we're looking for in you:
We believe that the right people are what make us truly special, and we want individuals who have a genuine intention to change the lives of young people. Whether or not you have previous experience in care, we are looking for individuals who possess the following qualities:

  • Empathy, acceptance, curiosity, and playfulness when engaging with young people, being both supportive and fun at the right moments.
  • The ability to calmly and confidently de-escalate challenging behaviours, while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved.
  • A full UK manual driving licence (our young people love getting out and about).
  • A belief in our young people's potential, despite their complex needs, challenging behaviours, and traumatic experiences.
  • Emotional, mental, and physical resilience to handle the demands of the role, including being involved in physical interventions if necessary.
  • Flexibility and adaptability; this role could take you anywhere within the North East, we support a lot of Young People so you could be asked to work in any of our teams! Expect to be asked to stay away from home and work a varied shift pattern (consisting of day shifts, waking night shifts and days followed by sleep ins).
  • It's important that you understand all aspects of the role before applying, like the working hours, possible working locations and the types of challenges you may encounter.

Benefits
Why join us?
We strive for excellence and actively seek to develop the potential of every young person and staff member. Here's what you'll enjoy when you come on board:

  • A competitive salary of £32,000, plus shift uplifts and sleep-in pay.
  • Paid leave, sick pay, and a company pension to support your wellbeing.
  • Comprehensive training and clear career progression pathways, including fully funded industry-recognised qualifications. We believe in developing not only our young people but also our staff.
  • Wellbeing support, including access to confidential counselling services.
  • A supportive and positive culture that celebrates your successes, with regular supervisions and quarterly nomination schemes.

Ready to Be Part of Something Unique?
This is your opportunity to join a team that isn't just about doing a job; it's about shaping lives through specialist care. If you're passionate about providing the highest level of care in a role that's far from ordinary, we want to hear from you.
