Support Worker

Location: Southsea

Salary Scale: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour

Start Date: ASAP

About the Role:

GSL Education are actively recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated full-time Support Worker to join our team at a school in Southsea. The role will involve providing high-quality care and support to students with a range of needs, including physical disabilities, learning difficulties, and mental health challenges. We are committed to providing a person-centred approach to care, and we are looking for someone who can deliver this in a warm and inclusive setting. Additionally, flexible bank options are available for day-to-day calls.

Key Responsibilities of a Support Worker:

  1. Provide personalised support to students with a variety of physical, emotional, and developmental needs.
  2. Assist students with personal care, including hygiene, dressing, and feeding, as needed.
  3. Support students with daily living activities, fostering independence and promoting a sense of well-being.
  4. Work closely with colleagues, families, and other professionals to create and implement care plans that meet the specific needs of each student.
  5. Encourage and facilitate social interactions, community involvement, and leisure activities to improve quality of life.
  6. Provide emotional support and build trusting, respectful relationships with students to ensure their safety and comfort.
  7. Document and report changes in students' health, behaviour, or well-being as required.

Requirements for the Support Worker role:

  1. Previous experience in a care/support role, especially with individuals who have complex needs, is desirable.
  2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with patients and colleagues.
  3. A patient, caring, and compassionate attitude toward working with vulnerable individuals.
  4. Ability to work as part of a team and independently when required.
  5. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of individuals.
  6. Relevant qualifications, such as NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care, or a willingness to complete training.
  7. Flexible and adaptable approach to work, with a strong focus on person-centered care.
  8. A valid DBS check or willingness to apply for one.

  1. Have the right to work in the UK.
  2. Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  3. Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
