Job description

Ashford & St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Are you a passionate midwife looking for a new challenge at a supportive Trust? Then the role of the Support Midwife for the diabetes team at Ashford and St Peter's (ASPH) is the job for you!

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic midwife to work collaboratively with the diabetes multidisciplinary team to provide personalised and safe care to women and birthing people.

At ASPH, you will work alongside a team that supports 3,300 births a year whilst working in the picturesque county of Surrey. We are very proud of our Abbey Birth Centre, level 3 Neonatal Unit, and level 3 BFI accreditation. We are one of the first Trusts nationally to implement biomechanics to support physiological births.

St Peter's is a great place to work, offering a working environment with an inclusive culture that values our people, creating a sense of belonging. We encourage applications from people who embrace our values.

The Trust understands that benefits go beyond just financial rewards and offers a wide range of staff wellbeing support. We provide opportunities for career development, and from the moment you start, you will be supported by our professional development team to achieve your career goals.

We offer initiatives to promote a healthy work-life balance, and we have an onsite gym that is free to access. We also have an onsite nursery to support you and your family.

Our vision is to become one of the best healthcare Trusts in the county, and it all starts with you!

Main Duties of the Job

The postholder will:

  1. Provide information and support to women who are known to be diabetic or are diagnosed with diabetes during their pregnancy.

  3. This post may be either hospital or community-based with flexibility to move between care settings.
  4. Support the Lead Midwife in the collection and production of any audits.
  5. Support the Diabetes Lead Midwife with the training and education of colleagues.
  6. When community-based, the postholder will be expected to participate in the on-call rota/night duty for the community.
