Job description

Job title: Supply Chain Lead

Location: Portsmouth Naval Base. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements. Please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £36,000 - £38,000 depending on skills and experience.

What you'll be doing:

  1. Support and/or prepare outputs and deliverables and select suppliers in line with the departmental procedures and systems.
  2. Support and/or negotiate all commercial, financial, quality and schedule elements of contracts and any authorised changes in line with departmental procedures.
  3. Pro-actively support and deliver effective supplier management and manage open order book in line with the project's integrated schedule.
  4. Support Line Manager in delivering KPI's.
  5. Identify and implement cost saving opportunities.
  6. Identify risks, opportunities and mitigation plans and implement accordingly.
  7. Act as the primary point of contact with assigned suppliers and customers (internal/external).
  8. Understand and adhere to the company Export Control requirements.
  9. Be first port of call for escalations within the Supply Chain team.
  10. May be required to support in areas outside of this scope due to business requirements.

Your skills and experiences:

  1. Experience of Procurement / Supply Chain Department.
  2. Commercial and contractual acumen.
  3. Working understanding of tool sets and IT (SAP desirable but not essential).
  4. Experience and understanding of MRP.
  5. Working knowledge of Purchase to Pay.
  6. Tender process and down selection experience.

The Warship Support Maritime Services Supply Chain team:

Working within the Warship Support Maritime Services Supply Chain responsible for delivering procurement / supply chain activities associated with a defined area. The role includes supporting the development of procurement / supply chain strategies & plans, and the engagement and management of suppliers, projects and other stakeholders to deliver project/business objectives. The coaching, mentoring and development of team members to drive performance.

Responsible for the day to day procurement of materials and subcontract services ensuring requirements related to cost, quality, delivery and export control are competitively achieved in line with requirements.
