Job description

My client is looking for a Supply Chain Expeditor. The role will report to the main office based in Rugeley; however, it will be based offsite. It is expected that for 3 days of the week, the contractor will be based on a customer site located in Norwich (NR1 1JN). Occasional travel to the Rugeley site will be required too.

We are looking for a proactive and assertive Supply Chain Expeditor to manage a key supplier responsible for motor assemblies. This is a 12-month contract role with a strong focus on ensuring on-time delivery and resolving day-to-day supply issues at the supplier's site. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a good technical understanding of manufacturing processes and be confident and assertive in managing a challenging supplier relationship.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Act as the main liaison between our business and the supplier, providing consistent site presence.
  2. Drive supplier adherence to production and delivery schedules at a granular level, escalating risks where necessary.
  3. Investigate production delays, material issues, and quality issues and ensure timely resolution.
  4. Work closely with internal stakeholders in Supply Chain, Projects, Engineering, and Quality to coordinate actions and priorities.
  5. Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for issues.
  6. Provide clear, consistent updates to the Supply Chain Lead Motors on supplier performance and key risks.
  7. Promote supplier accountability through clear communication and structured follow-ups.
  8. Assist in the development and execution of improvement plans at the supplier site.
Qualifications/Skills Required

  1. Experience in supply chain, production control, or supplier management roles.
  2. Assertive and able to maintain a strong on-site presence in a challenging environment while maintaining a direct and professional approach.
  3. Strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes; knowledge of motor assembly is a significant advantage.
  4. Confident managing a difficult or underperforming supplier, with a diplomatic but firm approach.
  5. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  6. Excellent communicator and team player.
  7. Full UK driving licence (due to travel requirements).
