LOCATION: Hingham, Norfolk (NR9) – Office based role
DEPARTMENT: Supply Chain
SALARY & BENEFITS: Competitive
HOURS: Full time/permanent - 37 hours per week (Mon – Thurs: 8hrs/ Fri: 5 hrs – finish early)

ABOUT THE ROLE

The role will lead and shape our global purchasing function to effectively support a growing volume aerospace manufacturing facility. Managing all lifecycle phases, from the development and introduction of new product through to the daily demands of the assembly line.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, and engaging with multi-functional teams at all levels across Mirus Aircraft Seating (Mirus), the role will interact with senior peers as well as providing support and direction to developing colleagues.

Managing a growing team of currently circa 15 people, the Directorate includes Purchasing, Material Planning, Logistics and Supplier Quality Assurance. The role will also work closely with external stakeholders, including suppliers and regulatory bodies.

IN YOUR ROLE AS OUR SUPPLY CHAIN DIRECTOR, YOU WILL:

  • Lead and manage a global Supply Chain service to be an effective and commercially focused department that can drive the business forward.
  • Develop and implement a procurement strategy appropriate to the needs of the business, both now and in the future.
  • Visible and proactive in supporting front line staff and their wellbeing, as well as nurturing relationships between Supply Chain and other functions across the business.
  • Lead supplier engagement; negotiating contracts, nurturing relationships and taking ownership of new supplier integrations into the business. Always ensuring a balance between quality, cost and delivery, and ultimately creating a sustainable supplier performance framework to support the organisations growth objectives.
  • Work with colleagues within the business to improve the availability and quality of component parts, to help reduce WIP, increasing efficiencies/reducing space whilst also ensuring finished goods are available to meet increasing demand, focusing on stock holding control/ stock turn improvements and working capital/cash conversion cycle.
  • Build robust systems to ensure stock levels are managed to reduce/remove product supply risks, identified through robust analysis of sales, operations and financial requirements.
  • Develop and implement Supply Chain policy, processes and procedures to ensure good practice, efficient and effective workflows, utilising smart operational metrics and performance reporting.
  • Provide guidance and oversight for international and local import procedures and processes.
  • Aware of department risks, and actively manage these risks on a daily basis to mitigate any detriment to on time customer delivery.
  • Ensure the MRP system is maintained, and all data points within our ERP solution remain accurate at all times.

ABOUT YOU

To help Mirus continue our journey of growth, you will bring your previous demonstrable expertise as a Supply Chain/Purchasing/Procurement Director within an environment of growth, along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

  • Significant experience in leading, shaping and managing a global supply chain team function, supporting a growth focused manufacturing business through the full product lifecycle.
  • Previous experience on an Executive Team/Board level leadership team, and confidently able to contribute meaningfully to strategic business discussions.
  • Evidence of supporting serial production lines.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to coach, nurture and develop talent.
  • Sound knowledge of legal frameworks, particularly contract law, and comfortable with contract negotiations.
  • Experience and understanding of ERP and MRP ordering systems.
  • Experience of international logistics, including global import/export practices
  • Qualified to degree level with relevant professional qualifications/accreditations

Please note this position will require regular international travel, and so the successful individual must hold a current passport and be willing to undertake short and long-haul travel as required.

Desirable:

  • Recent experience in a similar role operating within an aviation, ideally aircraft seating/interiors, or OEM automotive manufacturing business.
  • Previous consolidation centre experience within the supply chain.
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply.
