Supplies Manager

Tees Valley Hospital, Middlesbrough

Tees Valley Hospital, part of the Ramsay Health Care Group, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Supplies Manager. The hospital delivers a range of specialties including endoscopy, orthopaedics, general surgery, plastic surgery, urology, and gynaecology to both NHS and self-funding and insured patients.

We are seeking a highly organised and experienced Hospital Supplies Manager to join our dynamic healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hospital's storeroom, ensuring the efficient management and distribution of medical supplies, equipment, and inventory. This pivotal role demands meticulous attention to detail, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care.

Key responsibilities will include:

  1. Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of all medical supplies and equipment, ensuring optimal stock levels are met to support hospital operations. Conduct regular audits and implement inventory control measures to minimise waste and reduce costs.
  2. Procurement: Coordinate with suppliers to procure essential medical supplies and equipment. Strong management relationships with vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
  3. Distribution: Supervise the distribution of medical supplies and equipment to various hospital departments, ensuring timely and accurate delivery. Implement effective systems for tracking and monitoring the movement of inventory.
  4. Staff Line Management: Lead and manage a team of stores & portering staff, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations. Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and professional development.
  5. Reporting: Prepare and present detailed reports on inventory levels, procurement activities, and departmental performance to senior leadership team. Utilise data to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. Experience in inventory management, supply chain operations, or a similar role within a healthcare setting.
  2. Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff to achieve departmental goals.
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with staff, suppliers, and hospital administration.
  5. Proficiency in inventory management software, Microsoft Office, and other relevant technologies.
  6. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  7. Excellent IT skills particularly in Excel.
  8. Previous experience in a hospital environment is highly desirable.
  9. Demonstrate commercial and financial awareness.
