Job Summary
This position assists and supports the Imaging department Technologists as well as Radiologists by assisting in the Clinical Information System workflow for these patients. This position oversees the Imaging Assistants at all areas including Pav A- Outpatient pavilion, SL Radiology, NL Radiology as well as Schererville Immediate Care. Oversight over the staff to assure responsibilities in their job duties, including CPR compliance, annual flu shot compliance, getting the outpatients ready for their exams, transporting inpatients as needed, preparing CDs of imaging exams using the PACS, and providing a multitude of other clerical/office tasks. The inpatient holding room responsibilities include assisting with patient care and attendance as needed, as well as assuring the crash cart log and supplies are updated daily, per JACHO regulations.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)
* Compliance of staff for annual regulatory items including Flu vaccinations, Health stream modules, and CPR certifications. Assures logs are accurate and legible for all areas with the crash cart and heating blanket warmers.
* Creating the schedule for all staff for multiple areas to assure proper coverage. Maintaining PTO requests and time off. Assisting when requested, coaching, and counseling using the Model of Code and Conduct as well as the Matrix of Fair and Just culture.
* Works at the front desk in Imaging Services greeting patients, checking in patients, and prepares them for their exams while appropriately identifying the patient per departmental policies and procedures.
Identifies proper physician orders for the procedures and understands how to correct orders within the patient information system.
Assists with interviewing candidates for hire, as well as training of new staff.
Works with RIS PACS regarding image share outside the organization. Uploading CDs into the PACS ensuring optimal quality of images and comparison options for Radiologists.
Provide Oncology cases as requested for meeting review, printing reports or locating them outside the facility for Radiologist review.
Obtains STAT/Preliminary reports from radiologists and follows the policy for reporting critical test results.
Queries, retrieves, and prints CD images requested for release to physicians or patients, and requests prior studies relevant to the patient’s exams as needed.
Monitors patients in the inpatient holding room and coordinates patient transport with Central Transport and the individual departments, while transporting patients as needed.
Assuring the Crash cart deliberator and suction are available if needed for patient care, as well as keeping the logs and updating expired supplies.
Provides CDs and reports for litigations requested by attorneys or insurance companies.
Provides reports for NL trauma patients when requested.
Assisting the multiple diagnostic areas with patient care and preparing rooms prior to study.
Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS (Minimum Requirements)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Education
All post high school education must have been obtained from a recognized College or University. Additional education or experience may be substituted requirements on a year for year basis should the substitution not conflict with State or Board certification/license requirements.
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is Required.
Experience
3 years of experience in Customer Service is Required.
5 years of experience in Customer Service in a Healthcare Setting is Preferred.
3 years of experience in a Lead position is Required.
Certifications and Licensures
Certified Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation is Required.
