Description
You will be part of a tight-knit team, working directly with partners and directors, providing client focused and commercially aware services in an efficient and professional manner.
You will mentor, train and manage junior members of staff to enable them to develop and progress with the option of being involved in formal training if desired.
You will have a particular focus on not for profit organisations, so you will be able to demonstrate the highest technical standards in these areas. Our not for profit clients include Charities, Schools, Oxford colleges, Religious Organisations and NHS charities, just to name a few as well as commercial clients for those wanting a mixed portfolio.
You will be a fantastic communicator, with the ability to explain accounting concepts to clients and you will have the confidence and credibility to attend Governor and Trustee meetings and to present tenders. You will be required to fully immerse yourself in the sector and the area, attending client premises, seminars and the occasional evening event.
Moore Kingston Smith works as one firm, so you will also have the desire to contribute to the overall growth and management of MKS. You will take responsibility for developing junior staff and will support the Firm's values and act as a role model for your team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for auditing of companies, solicitors, charities and schools including planning, and finalisation of jobs, in a wide range of sectors.
- Present on-site for audit.
- Supervision of the audit team on-site, which includes reviewing the work of juniors and assisting junior team members with technical accounting and audit questions.
- Experience in both substantive & controls-based audits.
- Expertise in delivery of the primary accounting frameworks.
- Drafting recommendations to management following audit fieldwork completion.
- Drafting of close out audit meeting agenda and points for discussion.
- Preparation of tax computations and Corporation Tax returns (CT600).
- Preparation of statutory accounts of companies, and consolidated accounts of groups, partnerships and LLP's together with tax computations under FRS102 and IFRS requirements from client draft figures.
- Close liaison with clients, and other stakeholders, often direct contact at Partner and Director Levels.
- Motivation and encouragement of team.
- Promoting the interests of the firm with all employed by the firm, clients, prospective clients and other third parties.
- Generally to provide a personal, professional, speedy and efficient service to the firm's clients.
- Any other special work as required e.g. benchmarking reports, management information reviews & proposal pitches.
- Working alongside current office management to assist and supervise junior team members.
Practice Development
- To attend client gatherings or client seminars on an ad hoc basis.
- Spotting Practice Development opportunities with clients and progressing these in liaison with Partner/Director.
- Internal networking so to get to know your team & the wider firm.
Team Development
- Using initiative to come up with innovative ideas to improve systems currently in practice with regards to client or staff matters.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Qualified to ACA/ACCA or internationally recognised chartered accounting qualification.
- Experience leading audits.
- Technically competent.
- Experience of Pro-audit, CCH Accounts Production, Xero accounting, Quickbooks and Alphatax, Office 365 would be desirable.
- High level of personal motivation.
- Excellent communicator- able to get on with clients and your team.
