Supermarket Assistant - Beers, Wines & Spirits Specialist

About the role
As a Supermarket Assistant (Specialist Beers Wines & Spirits), you'll help our difference be felt by our customers on every visit, providing the Partner-led service and passion for food that our competitors can't compete with. Particularly sharing your passion and knowledge on Beer, Wine and Spirit products. Your drive to go the extra mile will make all the difference to the impression our customers have about the Waitrose brand and keep them returning again and again by earning their trust and loyalty for a lifetime.

Pay: £14.96 Per hour
Contract: Fixed term until 20/07/2025 with the potential to turn permanent in the future
Hours: 37.5 Hours a week
Location: Islington

Key Responsibilities
Daily responsibilities will include:

  1. Taking ownership for the Beers, Wines and Spirits section, ensuring the best customer shopping experience.
  2. Sharing your knowledge on these products to help our customers find just what they are looking for.
  3. Coaching other Partners on these products so they can help customers too.
  4. Stock replenishment - ensuring our shelves remain as full as possible and products are in the right place at the right time for our customers.
  5. Fulfilling online customer orders ready for our drivers to deliver their shopping direct to their doors.
  6. Reducing wastage by following product due diligence and markdowns to those reaching their sell by dates.
  7. Working with the wider shop team to support when needed including; checkout support, managing Click & Collect orders, fulfilling on-demand customer orders and more.
  8. Maintain a safe and tidy working environment with general shopkeeping tasks.

Essential skills/experience you'll need

  1. Communication skills - to enable you to work effectively as part of a team and with our customers.
  2. Outstanding Customer service and a passion for food.
  3. Excellent knowledge of your specialist area.
  4. Ability to Coach and mentor partners on your specialist area.

Desirable skills/experience you may have

  1. Commercial Awareness to keep up to date with market trends and product launches in your specialist area.
  2. IT literacy skills.
  3. Selling skills.
