Adventurers Day Camp Counselor "Middle School Camp Counselor"

We are seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and creative Camp Counselors to join our summer camp team for an exciting season filled with arts, sports, field trips, and swimming for middle school-aged campers. As a Camp Counselor, you will be a positive role model and play a key role in creating a fun, safe, and educational environment for our campers. If you love working with kids and are passionate about helping them grow through creative activities and outdoor adventures, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and Mentor Campers: Lead groups of middle school-aged children (grades 6-8) in daily activities, ensuring a safe, supportive, and fun environment.
  • Plan and Facilitate Activities: Organize and lead a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, sports (e.g., basketball, soccer, swimming), and outdoor games.
  • Field Trips: Accompany campers on off-site field trips to local attractions, parks, and other exciting destinations. Ensure camper safety and engagement during outings.
  • Swimming Supervision: Assist in swimming activities, ensuring campers are following safety rules and guidelines in the pool area.
  • Foster Camper Development: Build positive relationships with campers, encouraging teamwork, communication, and personal growth. Provide guidance and support during both structured and free time.
  • Maintain Safety and Discipline: Ensure that campers are adhering to camp rules, policies, and procedures. Report any incidents or concerns to camp management in a timely manner.
  • Promote Teamwork and Collaboration: Work closely with fellow counselors and camp staff to create a harmonious and efficient camp environment. Participate in team meetings and training sessions as needed.
  • Create a Positive Camp Experience: Help plan and facilitate special events, talent shows, or camp-wide competitions that encourage camper participation and spirit.

Qualifications:

  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years old
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children, especially middle school-aged kids, in a camp, educational, or recreational setting is preferred.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to lead and engage groups of children in a variety of activities.
    • Energetic, flexible, and able to adapt to different situations.
    • Basic first aid and CPR certification is a plus, but not required (training will be provided).
  • Passion for Working with Kids: A positive attitude and a genuine interest in making a difference in the lives of young campers.
  • Interest in Arts & Sports: Comfortable leading arts and crafts activities as well as engaging in sports and physical activities.
