We have an exciting opportunity for a Non-Medical Prescriber to join our team at HMP Kirkham, a category D open Prison located in Kirkham, Preston. You will be joining a well-staffed and fully integrated healthcare team managing around 25 employees working across Primary Care, Mental Health, Substance Misuse and external services. We are looking for someone with Substance Misuse experience who can prescribe in substance misuse in RCGP level 1 and is working towards RCGP level 2 or is willing to complete further training in RCGP level 1 and 2.

Hours:

Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week working either 8am - 4pm with occasional weekends as and when required.

Salary:

This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary between £49848 - £55996 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

As a Non-Medical Prescriber, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
  • Undertake Clinical Nursing Practice at an advanced level using expert knowledge and clinical skills to deliver care to patients.
  • Provide expert professional advice to patients, carers and colleagues and ensure the maintenance of clinical excellence.
  • Provide treatment as required, including prescribing medication, within your sphere of competence.
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments of patients looked after.
  • Provide advice/support in relation to crisis situations, conditions, and treatment plans, based on medical and treatment history.
  • Carry out a clinical review with the patient and update care plans accordingly.

Qualifications required:
  • Registered NMC or HCPC.
  • RCGP 1 Certificate in the Management of Substance Misuse - Essential or working towards.
  • RCGP 2 Certificate in the Management of Substance Misuse - Desirable.
  • Experience with Substance Misuse background - Essential.
  • Understanding and knowledge of policy developments related to the delivery of primary care services including Clinical Governance, Quality & Outcomes Framework.
