Job Title: Sub Agent - Highways
Start Date: Mid to Late May
Contract Length: 4 Months (Initial)
IR35 Status: Inside IR35
Location: Cambridge
Shift: Day Shifts

About the Role:

We are currently looking for an experienced Sub Agent to join a major highways scheme in Cambridge, working day shifts starting mid to late May. This is a key role in the delivery team, initially offered as a 4-month contract with strong potential for extension. The role is inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage and coordinate daily site activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of works.
2. Oversee drainage and surfacing packages, ensuring alignment with design, programme, and quality standards.
3. Supervise and support engineers and subcontractors on site.
4. Monitor progress, maintain records, and manage QA documentation and site paperwork (RAMS, ITPs, permits, etc).
5. Provide input into setting out and ensure accuracy in delivery.
6. Liaise with project management, clients, and key stakeholders regularly.
7. Promote and maintain a strong health & safety culture on site.

Essential Experience:

1. Proven experience as a Sub Agent or experienced Senior Engineer on highways or civil infrastructure projects.
2. Solid understanding of drainage and surfacing works.
3. Competent in overseeing multiple engineers and subcontractor teams.
4. Experience supporting or managing setting out activities.
5. Familiarity with DMRB and other relevant highways construction standards.
6. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Qualifications/Certs:

1. HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or similar).
2. CSCS (Black or White), SMSTS, and First Aid (preferred).
3. Previous experience delivering highways works on day shifts.
