Job description

Role overview

We’re looking for the newest member of our Student Communications and Engagement team – someone who is creative, enthusiastic, proactive and passionate about making a positive impact through communication, content and campaigns.

Our team are the central service for student communications, working across multiple channels that include email, social media, the website, student intranet, blogs, digital signage and more. We create both written and multimedia content, working across our channels to engage students with major updates, events, opportunities and more. We’re a very collaborative team, working closely with student-facing colleagues across the University of Salford, championing the student experience and putting students at the heart of everything we do.

Key Responsibilities Or Requirements

  • Together with our team of 6, you’ll work to proactively and creatively engage our diverse student audience throughout their student journeys to ultimately help them achieve their goals.
  • You’ll create written and multimedia content for major updates, events, opportunities and more.
  • Day-to-day tasks could vary from creating an Instagram story promoting an event, to writing and building the student newsletter, liaising with colleagues about their opportunities, monitoring social media, updating pages on our website, or interviewing students for a video that you’ll later edit and share as part of a campaign.
  • You’ll need strong communication and interpersonal skills, together with confidence and professionalism.
  • Collaboration, organisational skills, understanding social media trends and focusing on continual improvement are also key skills – and you’ll need to be willing to learn new skills and share your already developed skills with colleagues.
  • You’ll contribute to our planning and content production, thinking about how Salford can transform the way it addresses equity disparities, embraces diversity and becomes more inclusive.

If you fancy a chat about the role or have some questions then please email Megan Tattersley, Student Communications and Campaigns Coordinator at m.j.tattersley@salford.ac.uk.
