JOB DESCRIPTION
As a member of the Hull Engineering team, the Structures Engineer will provide technical oversight and support throughout the design, construction, testing/commissioning, and delivery of multiple classes of Royal Canadian Navy and Canadian Coast Guard vessels. This oversight and support will be provided through the application of practical job knowledge that is typically obtained through advanced education and work experience in the field of ship design and construction.
The Structures Engineer will work independently with general supervision from the Naval Architecture & Structures Team Lead to review subcontractor calculations, models, reports, and technical specifications to ensure that structural requirements from the customer, Classification Society, and shipyard have been achieved in the design. They will also be responsible for developing solutions to resolve technical issues encountered during construction.
To support the major new design and construction projects that are underway, the Structures Engineer will be expected to work in both an office and shipbuilding industrial environment to provide Engineering Solutions to complex problems through the application of theoretical, practical, and lean engineering principles.

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
