Job Description
Fed up with doing endless structural calculations?
The STRUCTURAL DESIGN MANAGER (Bedfordshire) is a great opportunity for a structural design engineer to get away from hands-on structural design and into a design management role.
Salary and benefits:
Company details:
Based in Bedfordshire, this privately owned engineering construction company (£20m turnover) is seeking to employ a Structural Design Manager on a permanent basis. As a business, they focus on geotechnical and structural engineering, and products supporting housing developments across London and the South East.
Person specifications:
They are looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to manage the design of the projects, liaising with sub-contractors, design consultants, and internal clients to deliver the projects on time and to budget. This is not a design-focused role; this is a project management/liaison role for someone coming from a Structural Engineering background.
This role will suit a Structural Engineer who has experience working on and managing a range of structural projects in the UK and wishes to move away from the day-to-day technical design aspects of consultancy work.
Job responsibilities include:
The role will require you to manage the design and coordination of the engineering works, making recommendations to clients, consultancies, and contractors whilst ensuring they are delivered upon through the process. This is a cradle-to-grave role with large elements of self-autonomy whilst working within a supportive and developing team. There will be an opportunity to, on occasion, develop geo-technical designs with the in-house design team approaching it from the position of a structural engineer.
