In the UK, Safran Seats specializes solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales.

As a Stress Engineer, you will provide analytical guidance in structural and occupant injury simulation, working closely with other functions such as Design, Certification, and Production to ensure that seating products are lightweight, durable, and safe throughout their working life.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

1. Be able to plan and manage own and a limited number of others stress activities for a specific program.
2. Manage self and technically support junior stress engineers to ensure tasks are completed to requirements of time, cost, and quality.
3. Assist with identifying certification test failure risk, and ensure it is managed effectively and minimized with the use of appropriate analytical methods and judgment.
4. Prepare, review, and approve hand calculations, linear static, non-linear, crash, multi-body dynamic and optimization FE models for seating products to support the design and certification process, plus the in-service life of the product.
5. Identify structural design issues and recommend improvements and alternate solutions.
6. Support root cause analysis (e.g., 8D/Ishikawa).
7. Preferably have a working knowledge of regulations FAR/CS 25-561, EASA Part 21 J, ARP 5526, and Airframer specifications.
8. Provide expertise in continuous improvement of department processes, methods, and manuals.
9. Be innovative in their approach to problem-solving. Ensure that innovative and creative ideas are supported, evaluated, and investigated to conclusion.
