About the Role: The Strategic Project Manager is responsible for the development and operational delivery of key strategic projects within the Translational Medicine team focusing on those involving MedTech and life sciences partners. The Strategic Project Manager will work closely with clinical and business development colleagues on the design of projects, and will be responsible for planning and delivery of projects related to MedTech, life sciences and industry collaborative activities. Projects will include clinical studies, evaluation, collaborative research, validation studies and core lab services with global commercial partners. The manager will work within the Translational Medicine team but collaborate closely with colleagues in business development, technical field operations, R&D, marketing and finance domains. They will provide a key point of contact for MedTech and life sciences partners.


Key responsibilities:

  1. Project Management: Lead and manage multiple strategic projects within the MedTech and life science sectors, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with company goals and demonstration of product value propositions relating to MedTech and life sciences.
  2. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to drive project success, including researchers, clinicians, MedTech and life sciences representatives.
  3. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  4. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project continuity.
  5. Performance Monitoring: Track project progress, prepare status reports, and present findings to senior management.
  6. Innovation: Drive innovation by identifying new opportunities and integrating cutting-edge technologies into projects.
  7. Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with relevant regulations and standards in the MedTech and life sciences industries.

Requirements

Essential requirements:

  1. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of project/research management experience in relevant scientific research, healthcare, MedTech or life sciences sectors.
  2. Leadership: Proven ability to lead cross-functional project teams and manage a portfolio of complex projects.
  3. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Networking/Relationship management: Ability to build effective relationships with external stakeholders to support project design and delivery, and identify additional opportunities.
  5. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively under pressure.

Desirable requirements:

  1. Experience: Project management experience in a MedTech or life sciences setting.
  2. Certifications: PMP, PRINCE2, or other relevant project management certifications.
  3. Clinical: Understanding of stroke/neurology or lung disease.
  4. Technical Knowledge: Understanding of medical devices, diagnostics, or biotechnology.
  5. Networking: Established network within the life sciences and MedTech industries.
  6. Innovation: Experience with innovative project methodologies and tools.

Education:

  1. Degree: Bachelor's degree in relevant Scientific field, Engineering, Business, or a related field.

Skills:

  1. Project Management: Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  2. Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills.
  3. Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  4. Analytical: Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
