Irwin and Colton have been engaged by one of the UK's largest real estate managing agents to identify a new Strategic Fire Safety Lead. The role will focus purely on the fire safety strategy and management in place for their high-rise residential portfolio in East London, with over 50 buildings registered under the Building Safety Act.

This role will report directly to the Director of Estates for the business and work with key internal stakeholders across the business to raise the level of fire safety performance for a large property portfolio.

Responsibilities of the Strategic Fire Safety Lead will include:

  1. Engaging with key stakeholders on-site to drive a positive fire safety culture.
  2. Assessment of the BS-9997 management system to ensure that it reflects best practices and is always effective.
  3. Conducting site inspections as required, working closely with local partners and teams, as well as external specialist consultants, across the property portfolio.
  4. Leading the wider safety team in the development and delivery of the strategy, identifying opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of the fire safety function internally and externally.
  5. Ensuring that compliance standards are met relative to key performance indicators.
  6. Paying particular attention to the requirements of the building safety strategy; ensuring legal responsibilities are met.

The successful Strategic Fire Safety Lead will have:
  1. Level 4 Fire Safety Diploma is ideal (and a member of the IFE).
  2. Proven experience in a similar fire safety role, driving strategy and implementing necessary change within residential property management.
  3. Experience influencing and engaging at all levels within a large property environment.
  4. Knowledge of the Building Safety bill is key across high-rise residential buildings.

This role is site-based and there is a requirement to be in London 5 days per week.
