Job description

Are you an experienced Stores Operative, looking for a full-time role immediately?

Our client is a globally renowned manufacturer and supplier with over 140 years of expertise, producing top-quality, specialist equipment for materials testing. Their products serve a diverse range of industries worldwide, showcasing their commitment to excellence and innovation in precision engineering.

Salary: £25,500

Location: Horley - Must be a driver due to rural location

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4.30pm

The Role

As the Stores Operative, you will assist the Despatch Operative with international freight packing, stock management, and general warehouse duties. Your responsibilities will include handling goods, maintaining inventory records, ensuring a smooth dispatch process, and supporting overall warehouse operations to ensure efficiency and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Support the packing of goods for national and international freight shipments.
  2. Assist with the collection and delivery of goods off-site as required.
  3. Provide support across all areas of the Stores Department, including:
    1. Processing stock shortage tickets.
    2. Assisting with goods inwards, booking in, and warehousing tasks.
    3. Coordinate with third-party contractors as needed.
    4. Maintain a basic understanding of a workshop environment and its operations.
    5. Ensure the work area remains clean, organised, and safe.
    6. Utilise the computerised Stock Management System efficiently.
    7. Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure smooth operations.
    8. Adhere to company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
    9. Follow company systems and processes to maintain compliance and efficiency.
About you:
  1. Must have a full driving license.
  2. Experience operating a Forklift Truck - desired.
  3. Previous experience working in a shop floor or warehouse environment.
  4. Strong communication and numerical skills.
  5. Reliable, organised, and able to work independently.
  6. Proficient in both written and spoken English.
  7. Confident user of stock management systems.
  8. Excellent customer service skills with a professional approach.
