Job description

Currently recruiting for an experienced Static Equipment Mechanical Engineer on a permanent staff basis for an FPSO operator based in Portlethen, Aberdeenshire.

Working with the Operations Technical Management department, the Static Equipment Mechanical Engineer will provide technical support and advise on technical risks and anomalies in the asset operations, projects and improvement programs associated with FPSO.

The Static Equipment Mechanical Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  1. Making cost effective and safe decisions / investigations with regard to the repair, maintenance and modifications of all installation equipment.
  2. Preparing and reviewing engineering work packs and close out reports developed externally for technical content.
  3. Giving input and advice in vendor / sub-contractor selection, with regard to budget and potential issues, as well as barriers or gaps related to own discipline.
  4. Collecting information, review, draft and establish fabrication / construction specifications.
  5. Ensuring processing and transfer of specifications into construction drawings and systems.
  6. Ensuring consistency of construction activities with the intended design.
  7. Ensuring efficient and effective planned maintenance procedures and routines.
  8. Signal technical risks and anomalies in project, improvement programs, commissioning and/or asset operations. Providing technical support and advice.
  9. Participating in inspections, FAT and offshore surveys.
  10. Ensuring proactive and complete reporting on progress, setbacks and concerns and ensure up-to-date systems.
  11. Ensuring effective implementation of HSEQ and RC requirements in specifications, systems, procedures, maintenance routines and in daily practice.
  12. Visiting operational FPSO's at regular intervals and liaise with the offshore management on discipline related queries.

Experience / Qualifications:

  1. A degree qualification in a relevant Mechanical Engineering discipline would be preferred.
  2. Current / valid offshore certification would be preferred.
  3. Previous experience in a similar Static Equipment Mechanical Engineer type role, directly within the North Sea oil and gas industry, is essential.
  4. Applicants should have good working knowledge with all types of valves (including PSV’s), as well as cranes, boilers, water markers etc.
