Our 0-19 Starting Well Service is looking to appoint a permanent, Starting Well Nurse across the Chester and Rural District.

You would become part of an integrated team delivering the key elements of the Healthy Child Programme to the Cheshire West and Chester 0-19 year old population and their families.

As a Starting Well Nurse in this post, your responsibilities and caseload will be focused to the 0-11/11-19 age range.

Main duties of the job

You will:

  1. Be a qualified Registered General Nurse.
  2. Demonstrate skills in service improvement, innovation and public health.
  3. Be flexible and solution focused in your approach to challenges.
  4. Be willing to work in an integrated way.
  5. Be compassionate, competent and child focused in all that you do.

You should have an excellent knowledge of the Healthy Child Programme and demonstrate a commitment to multi agency/collaborative and integrated team working. Comprehensive training and support will be provided.

You will support the service leads with service improvement and the delivery of interventions to support the health, wellbeing and development of children and their families across Cheshire West and Chester.

You will benefit from a full induction and preceptorship programme where appropriate. Regular clinical and safeguarding supervision will also be provided as will access to relevant internal and external training/development opportunities.

  1. Knowledge of Public Health in relation to the wellbeing of Children and families

Experience

  1. Experience of holding a child safeguarding caseload
  2. Delivery of the Healthy Child Programme
  3. Collaborative working as part of a multidisciplinary/integrated team
  4. Experience of contributing to assessing, planning and implementing care plans with children and families
  5. Experience in the protection of children
  6. Sound skills in the use of clinical systems and Microsoft Office
