ABOUT ZENOBE

Our goal is to make clean power accessible, to accelerate the shift to zero carbon power and transport.

We’re building and operating the world’s most sophisticated battery systems to enable the uptake of more renewable power and accelerating fleet electrification, de-risking the transition to zero-emission transport at scale. We’ve been consistently innovative since we were founded in 2017, achieving major industry firsts and using proprietary software and data analysis to optimise operational performance for our customers. At the end of their life, we repurpose electric vehicle batteries to provide clean power at depots, on construction sites and film sets.

Today we have 730 MW of grid scale battery storage operational and under construction and are the largest owner and operator of EV buses in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, supporting over 1,000 electric vehicles worldwide. In our first five years we have raised nearly £1.8 billion in funding and have expanded into other markets such as the US. THE OPPORTUNITY

As part of the continuous scale up of the business, we have a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and talented Stakeholder and Community Engagement Manager to support the growth and delivery of transmission-scale battery storage projects and fleet electrification. The candidate will bring a demonstrable experience of developing and delivering strategic and tactical community engagement plans – both at the corporate, project and community level. Strong experience managing day-to-day engagements with local communities is key, including proactive relationship management, tailored engagement, and the development and maintenance of trust and advocacy.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing & Strategic Communications, the Stakeholder and Community EngagementManager will develop and implement our corporate community strategy; defining the business’ plan to work with communities, shaping our charitable initiatives and delivering engagement activities, to establish, build and maintain relationships with local residents, businesses, community and stakeholder groups.A vision for how businesses can deliver additional value as well as practical hands-on experience working with community challenges are essential.

The role will suit someone with experience working in cross-functional team environments as they will work closely with Project Development, Delivery, Construction, and Marketing & Strategic Communications teams, across several projects at different stages of development. They will be technically astute with experience of leading corporate and project-level stakeholder and community engagement activities,ideally forlarge-scale energy and/or transport projects in the UK. The candidate will be confident in communicating in appropriate styles to different audiences as the role includes managing consultants, engaging with corporate and project stakeholders, and local communities.

A TASTE OF THE DAY TO DAY

  • Develop and implement our corporate stakeholder and community engagement strategy and internal training programme
  • Meet with local community members to discuss concerns and issues – this role will include travel to visit communities on a regular basis
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop and lead programmes of stakeholder and community engagement activities, meetings, events and consultations to support the deployment of battery projects and fleet electrification in the UK
  • Brief and prepare communications responses for media, website and social in partnership with agencies and internal teams
  • Prepare materials for stakeholder and community engagement activities and events
  • Develop, build and strengthen relationships as point of contact for residents, communitiesand local stakeholder groups,
  • Attend regular public events acting as a representative of Zenobē
  • Problem solve and seek ways to maximise community benefit and social value
  • Prepare feedback and complaints processes for stakeholders including mechanisms for resolution and escalation
  • Respond to stakeholder complaints and enquiries, and resolve matterswithin set timescales
  • Ensure stakeholder and community risks and issues are managed, mitigated and reported appropriately

Essential Competencies:

  • Strong strategic thinking coupled with the ability to identify and manage key stakeholder relationships at all levels to support excellence in delivery.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of stakeholder and community engagement requirements and processes in the UK, ideally in relation to the development and delivery of large, complex projects
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, and an ability to build relationships and trust with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills capable of presenting to a wide range of project stakeholders.
  • Commercial acumen and entrepreneurial values.
  • Excellent project management skills including the ability to manage complex project issues, managing time, setting priorities and organising the complex logistics of engagement activities and outputs
  • Solid understanding of both the underlying principles and practices of community engagement including being able to communicate the importance of community engagement in project delivery
  • Experience in organizing community events such as public participation and information workshops
  • Self-motivated and confident in taking initiative, making recommendations and challenging teams
  • Strong organisation skills, team player and good attention to detail
  • Able to manage their own schedule and be able to travel to our project sites across the UK and our office in London.
