Our Team:
The Digital Automotive Hub is the editorial powerhouse behind the Parkers.co.uk and Carmagazine.co.uk websites. Working with the site editors for those brands and other stakeholders, we provide a wide range of high-quality content to spec, on time, and in keeping with all current Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) guidelines and business goals.
You’ll be joining a motivated, fun-loving, inclusive and open-hearted bunch, in a working environment where team playing and individual brilliance are both celebrated and supported.
As such, we all live and breathe Bauer Media’s values of passion, entrepreneurship, trust and excellence.

The focus of the role:
The hub’s staff writers are the heart of our automotive brands, creating content that is carefully curated to excite our readers and drive maximum audience reach and results for Bauer’s motoring websites. They work across Parkers and CAR (and other Bauer titles where required), helping the hub to meet the content requirements and goals for each outlet, and delivering articles, advice and reviews brimming with Expertise, Experience, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness (EEAT).

As such, they must be able to write for the ordinary everyday motorist as well as the enthusiast, reflecting the diversity of our audiences, which includes around a million female readers every month.

This multifaceted role is focused on editorial and SEO goals surrounding news, advice and evergreen content, as well as reviewing and road-testing cars (and other vehicles). In time, this will include attending launches and other events, as well as assisting with photography and video shoots where appropriate. This will often require awesome time management and prioritisation skills, driven by data and business requirements, in coordination with team leaders and other stakeholders.

Representing Bauer and the hub within the industry and to the wider public, the successful candidate should be social media savvy, and very much willing to get involved. They will work with the head of the hub, website editors, SEO/audience development and other key teams to help achieve the necessary balance of content that our titles require. Whether creating something entirely new or updating an existing story, we pride ourselves on speed, accuracy, high standards, relatability and entertainment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering high-quality content on time and to the brief across multiple brands and formats, taking account of house style and tone while meeting deadlines and output targets.
  • Understanding and using data to make content decisions, marrying human and analytical insight to create brilliant, must-read content as well as understanding what works – and what doesn’t.
  • To create content for everyone, and be a part of pushing new content to a diverse audience.
  • Consistently creating and maintaining top-quality evergreen, news and advice content, with SEO and EEAT always front of mind.
  • Reporting from car launches and other events; this will require the ability and willingness to travel regularly both within and outside of the UK.
  • Keeping up to date with relevant aspects of the car industry.
  • Striving for excellence in all output, from the quality of writing to SEO and picture selection.
  • Caring as much about CMS housekeeping, technical hygiene and social amplification as writing.
  • Assisting with photo and video shoots, newsletters and social media when required, with the flexibility to be on hand in the office as necessary.
  • Cooperate and work effectively with other teams within Bauer to support wider business goals.

What we’re looking for:

  • A can-do attitude with a willingness to get involved.
  • A passion to create content for everyone and ensure content serves a diverse audience.
  • Excellent writing and other communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm for the job and a hunger to learn more.
  • Disciplined time management.
  • Collaborative mindset and an understanding of prioritisation.
  • CMS experience, SEO knowledge and social media savvy desired.
