As a Staff Software Engineer in Supply Chain, you will be a driving force behind the modernisation of critical systems for M&S, as we scale. As a technical leader, you will be collaborating with many multi-functional teams to design, build, and maintain the software that powers our warehouse operations.

What You’ll Do

Your key accountabilities will include:

  1. Software Development: Develop, test, and debug software solutions to customise and optimise our warehouse management system (WMS), ensuring it can perform at scale, maintain data integrity, and integrate seamlessly with other critical systems in the estate.
  2. Technical Leadership: Bring engineering excellence and modern tooling and practices to the Supply Chain space, providing expert guidance on sophisticated projects, ensuring that software solutions align both with our strategy, technology standards, and engineering best practice.
  3. Architecture and Design: Lead the design of scalable and adaptable software architectures which support multiple, and differing, warehouse operations from a single codebase.
  4. Code Review: Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure consistency to technical standards, maintainability, and high-quality code.
  5. Collaboration: Gain a deep understanding of our supply chain, working with key operations partners, product managers, and other engineers to be able to craft the most effective technical solutions.
Who You Are

Your skills and experience will include:

  1. Proven track record in developing impactful, robust backend systems and integrations, with a focus on optimisation and scalability.
  2. Motivated by the ability to positively impact physical operations through great software.
  3. Deep understanding of software engineering principles, patterns, and practices, applied to the development of maintainable and adaptable code.
  4. Technical versatility and proficiency in a range of relevant programming (e.g. Java, PL/SQL, JavaScript) and tools (e.g. Git, CI/CD pipelines).
  5. Expertise in designing and implementing scalable applications on cloud infrastructure, with a focus on performance and security.
Tech Stack

M&S uses a variety of technologies within Supply Chain and, as part of our modernization drive, will be introducing new ones. The sorts of technologies include: Java, Micronaut, PL/SQL, ReactJS, Next.js, Azure Cloud, Dynatrace (observability), Mule, Kafka, MQ, Blue Yonder Dispatcher.
